为什么$ split有效语法？

为my % foo;或my $ string;编译perl的原因已经answer，但我很惊讶地看到变量名称也是如此本身就是一个函数，例如split：

use warnings;
use strict;

my $ split = 'why does this work?';

say $split;
# why does this work?
