How to change default send as email (different alias) in Outlook 2013?

I know how to change the default mailbox from which emails are sent. My question is related to an alias. I have requests from users who have a default email as firstinitial,lastname@domain.com. They have multiple alias's as well, firstname.lastname@domain.com is one of them.

In this case Joe Smith (jsmith@domain.com default) would like his default send from be joe.smith@domain.com. So when he sends emails it comes from joe.smith rather than jsmith. I have access to the exchange server, but didn't see an option in there, and I didn't find what I am looking for in Outlook 2013.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Exchange server sends by default from the default SMTP address when Outlook is used. If there are multiple proxy addresses, you cannot select the one to send from in Outlook. They are only used for receiving mail by the server.

The only way to send from a non-default SMTP address is to do that using a POP3/SMTP account in Outlook or use a product like Proxy Manager. See https://www.msoutlook.info/question/send-mail-from-additional-exchange-address-or-alias for a detailed lists of your options.
