首先,这不起作用,因为log函数不从stdin获取字符串,而是从命令行参数$1获取 - 在这种情况下为空。所以它在没有输入时只运行一次,因此只显示日期。

log应用于另一个程序输出的每一行的常用方法是使用xargs包装它。要使xargs能够调用定义为shell函数的内容,您需要首先从中创建一个脚本文件(例如./log.sh):

这是管道另一端的程序所见。 git正在使用carriage return字符(0d\r)来更新进度输出中的计数器。当由终端解释时,回车符将光标移动到行的开头,有效地覆盖正在尝试插入的前缀log。但更糟糕的是,如果你要重定向到一个文件,你的日志将包含所有中间内容,这将比最终输出多出几十到几千倍的空间。

这意味着,如果您只对最终输出感兴趣,那么必须过滤掉所有中间进度字符串:
